Service Committee

The Service Committee collects donations and organizes activities for valuable projects of service and compassionate action. The following activities are planned for this year.

Growing Places/Lancaster Community Center-

We will raise money for Growing Places in October 2011. They assist families in setting up raised bed vegetable gardens and teach them how to plant and grow their own food.  Check out their website for more information: www.growingplaces.org. In Spring 2012, we plan to assist Growing Places in setting up raised garden beds for use by our seniors at the new Lancaster Community Center. Be Like Brit-

 During the Spring of 2012, we will be supporting this organization which is raising money to rebuild an orphanage in Haiti. We plan on some fundraising activities and creating a bulletin board to show the progress of the organization in reaching their goal of raising $1.2 million. Donations for Wheat-

Thanksgiving Food Basket - November 2011

We will put together a basket of food for Wheat for Thanksgiving to help local families during the holiday.

Mitten Tree Collection - December 2011

We will run a  Mitten Tree collection for Wheat. This will provide local children with clothes and toys for the holidays.

Backpack Program - June 2012

We are looking to sponsor and raise funds for the Wheat Backpack Program in June and during the summer. Wheat last year requested supplies or money donations to set up the backpacks for the kids to start school.

Battered Woman's Resources, Inc.-

We plan to conduct a drive for personal care items and clothing in the spring, on Mothers' Day.  Items will be used in emergency overnight stays for mothers and children when they are in danger and need immediate protection.  Your help is greatly appreciated!
