Bill Knott is the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s representative to the United States government, and coordinates the Church’s relationships with legislators, advocacy groups and international embassies. With offices on Capitol Hill and at the Church’s world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, he works to advise leaders on pending legislation, promote communication, and advance religious freedom. Bill’s family moved to Lancaster when he was nine years old, and he attended Browning Elementary, South Lancaster Academy, and Atlantic Union College, from which he graduated in 1979. His parents, David and Rose Marie Knott continued to live in Lancaster until 2011, after they retired from decades of service to Atlantic College. Bill’s life story is intertwined with the story of this historic town, including singing in choral groups at this church’s Christmas Eve services, and concelebrating weddings in this sanctuary. In October, through the kindness of Rev. Wil, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to see the Revere bell that still rings from the belfry of this church.
