| Hosted by the new First Church Justice League The film being screened, The American Society of Magical Negroes (2024), came to us as a recommendation by Lancaster resident and College Church member, Juliette Willoughby, who has also offered to join us at a future date following the screening for a helpful debrief as a Black woman who has been impacted by the realities satirized in this film. The film is not meant to be an easy watch. And for many of us, we might be uncomfortable. But it’s OK to be uncomfortable sometimes. Sometimes the things we need to understand are not always easy. But if we do it together, and allow our feelings and our questions to exist in a safe environment designed for the purpose, we will grow as individuals and compassionate members of our conflicted society. For copyright purposes, this screening is intended as a private event for members and friends of the First Church of Lancaster. But if you know someone who would benefit from participating, please feel free to invite them (remember to still RSVP). |
